At three years old, Ryan Hickman of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., tagged along with his dad to a local recycling center with a few bags of cans and bottles—and the experience changed his life. He soon enlisted his neighbors to save their recyclables for him, and they recruited their friends, relatives and co-workers to help out, too. Today, Ryan is the social entrepreneur behind Ryan’s Recycling Company and has become a global ambassador for recycling, appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Good Morning America, the TODAY Show and many others. In this interview with Kevin Edwards of Real Leaders Magazine, Ryan shares his inspiring story and offers advice for people of all ages who want to make a difference.
