For many Americans living below the poverty line, pets often provide the comfort and companionship that makes life worth living. But keeping their pets healthy is a luxury some can’t afford. This “Heartland Stories” video, created by the Sullivan Foundation’s new corporate partner, Renasant Bank, tells the heartwarming story of one nonprofit that’s offering affordable veterinary care in Alachua County, Florida. Among its many services, St. Francis Pet Care offers free veterinary care, medicines and pet food to companion animals of homeless and very low-income individuals.
