The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation proudly recognizes and congratulates our Senior Advisor, Christopher Gergen, on his new role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA). Gergen’s extensive background in systems innovation, entrepreneurship, and mission-driven ventures aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to fostering leadership that transforms communities for the better.

Paul Lightfoot, ROA Board Chair, welcomed Gergen’s appointment by stating, “We have so much work to do in the transition to regenerative organic agricultural systems for the sake of the planet. We will be well served by Christopher’s track record of executive leadership and his deep and passionate commitment to ROC farms and brands.”

Gergen previously served as Chief Growth Officer at 4P Foods, where he enhanced market access for local farmers, particularly in BIPOC communities, and spearheaded the successful Food-Is-Medicine initiative. This focus on equitable food systems reflects the ROA’s mission to integrate social fairness, ecological health, and animal welfare into regenerative organic farming. Since launching its Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC™) label, the ROA has certified more than 2,100 products across 18 million acres in 44 countries.

“The work of ROA and the regenerative organic movement could not be more important,” said Gergen. Together we have the opportunity to accelerate the shift from extractive conventional agriculture to strategies that heal our planet and nourish our bodies. I am deeply honored to join the ROA community and exponentially expand our collective impact.”

At the Sullivan Foundation, we celebrate Christopher’s dedication to uplifting communities and pioneering systems-based solutions. He represents the spirit of service and leadership the Foundation has recognized and supported for nearly a century.
