“I am so grateful that the Sullivan Foundation staff reached out to me about being the featured student for January. I have loved all of my time spent participating in Sullivan Foundation programming over the past several years, including the Sullivan Ignite Retreats and Sullivan Study Abroad programming.

I have attended the past five Sullivan Retreats, from the fall of 2021 to fall of 2023. My favorite part of the retreats has been meeting passionate students from throughout the southern U.S. I have learned so much by attending these events and talking to students that are interested in so many different subjects. I have seen many of these same students go on to create much good in the world. Some of them have gone on to create much needed access to and education about period or menstrual products. Others have developed educational opportunities about sustainable housing, such as how to use eco-bricks. Still others have worked to promote mental health resources in their communities, and so much more. Unlike other conferences I’ve attended while in college where everyone wanted to talk about one subject, the Sullivan Retreats have always offer a variety of topics and conversations, which were far more fund and rejuvenating for me.

Also, the energy and enthusiasm of the coaches was contagious. They were always excited to share their stories, and someone was always willing to lend an ear to listen to participants’ ideas. I loved getting to know the coaches, what motivated them, and to learn more about the paths they took after college. They often didn’t take or stick to the “traditional” paths after college, so it was exciting to hear about how to do something different! The retreats always reenergized for the rest of the school semester. I’d love to come back as a coach in the future.

The Strasbourg study abroad program offered by the Sullivan Foundation allowed me to engage with entrepreneurship and leadership in a different setting while also offering an opportunity to explore more about French culture and history. I loved being able to live and study in a chateau for a month in the capital of Europe!

This is just a small amount of my experiences with the Foundation. I hope that this is helpful! Thank you again for this opportunity. Please keep in touch!”
