This winter the Sullivan Service Corps partners with Social Entrepreneur Corps (SEC) for a one week, hands on consulting immersion in Guatemala. You will live with a homestay family, work alongside bilingual leaders, and strengthen a mission driven enterprise serving real community needs.

The program is designed and led by Greg Van Kirk, an Ashoka Fellow and World Economic Forum Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2012. His team has been building programs in Guatemala since 2005. Participants earn a certificate suitable for LinkedIn and build career ready skills in consulting, collaboration, empathy, resilience, and global competence. No Spanish is required since bilingual leadership accompanies the group at all times.

This year’s consulting focus features Cinco Azul, an organic food enterprise that prioritizes healthy and accessible products, close relationships with producers, fair practices, and zero waste. Field time includes meaningful work in Mayan communities and memorable moments such as climbing a volcano and visiting coffee plantations.

Why this fits the Service Corps

The Sullivan Service Corps extends the Foundation’s century of recognizing service into a practical pathway that empowers leaders to practice it. The Corps gives students and alumni structured, mentored opportunities to translate values into action with real partners in real communities. This Guatemala immersion is that promise in motion.
