The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation is named after one man, but countless individuals have made it what it is today. Launching in Spring 2023, the Sullivan Summit will celebrate them all—their service to others, their accomplishments, and their dreams still to be dreamed. Featuring four new awards and introducing the Foundation’s innovative new programming, this event will bring everyone together for what will become a Sullivan tradition for many years to come.

The Sullivan Award has long been one of the most prestigious student awards offered by our partner schools. Now, it’s time to honor those student recipients who went on to a lifetime of service—as well as those who inspired them to build a better world. For these veteran changemakers, the Foundation will present two new awards at the Sullivan Summit:

The Luminary Award—presented to a past Sullivan Award student recipient who has continued on a lifelong path of placing service above self since graduation.

The Beacon Award—presented to an individual who has mentored and/or inspired a past Sullivan Award student recipient in their changemaking journey.

Faculty/staff members and alumni are the unsung heroes of positive change. To give them the recognition they deserve, the Foundation will offer two new awards:

The Sullivan Engagement Award—presented to a partner school faculty/staff member in recognition of their extraordinary engagement in Sullivan Foundation programming. This award comes with a $1,000 stipend and a week at Sullivan Study Abroad.

The Sullivan Service Award—presented to a partner school faculty/staff member or alumnus, nominated by their school, who has provided extraordinary service to the campus or community.

The inaugural cohort of the Sullivan Fellows Program will wrap up their first year in the spring of 2023. These changemakers will get their moment in the spotlight to discuss what they’ve learned and how they’re already making a difference in their corner of the world.

The Sullivan Summit will unveil the new Sullivan Impact Prize competition. To win the prize and its $25,000 cash award, Sullivan alumni must develop a plan to build an innovative and impactful new program—or to expand an existing one—that addresses a real problem in their community. The first Impact Prize winner will be announced at the Fall 2023 Ignite Retreat, and this program will expand to include multiple prizes covering a range of social issues in the coming years.
