Sullivan Scholarships

Supporting Young Changemakers in the American South

The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation provides scholarship funding to support undergraduate students of exemplary character at 23 private colleges and universities in the American South. The Foundation currently awards approximately $500,000 annually in scholarship funds to participating schools and has established endowment funds at most schools to support the Sullivan Scholarship Program as well as social entrepreneurship programming.

The Sullivan scholarships are awarded based on the students’ personal character, integrity, and service to others and to their communities. Sullivan scholarships are not awarded on the basis of financial need, nor for academic or athletic achievement. Each individual school selects its recipients, rather than the Foundation. Please review the F.A.Q. section below for additional information.

Each Sullivan partner school selects its Sullivan scholarship recipients and oversees the application process. If you believe you are a qualified candidate and are planning to attend a Sullivan scholarship school, please contact your school’s financial aid department for more information about applying for the program. Please do not contact the Foundation about scholarship applications or requests for funding.

The Sullivan scholarships are $10,000 per year and are renewable for four years. In addition to financial support, Sullivan scholarship recipients become part of the Sullivan family of schools and alumni and receive the opportunity to attend our programming at no cost.
